What
Coaching support to senior managers of a large Financial Institution, as part of a change management process.

Approach
The requirement was to quickly build rapport and trust and to provide a coaching approach which was both practical and pragmatic.

Result
The process gave each manager the opportunity to identify key management / leadership issues and sought clear commitment to agreed action, within a supportive environment.

What

Worked with the Chief Executive during a period of rapid change and major challenges for the business.

Approach
Developed a coaching relationship with the individual which was based on candour and openness and which encouraged the person to develop greater self-awareness and avoid defensiveness.

Result
The CEO, developed greater levels of self-awareness and openness and expanded their leadership and people management skills. Enhanced relationships with shareholders, the company board and senior management team.

What

Through coaching, the person sought to address issues related to their leadership style and their ability to influence the future direction of the Firm. We also considered some unique challenges in influencing and winning the commitment of the other Partners.

Result
Provided the person with the opportunity to use an “objective outsider” as a sounding board in a confidential setting. This encouraged the individual to explore the strengths and shortcomings of their leadership / influencing style. Through an enhanced approach, the person gained clear commitment from the other Partners as to future business direction.

Result
Through ensuring that the rationale and benefits of the change were clearly communicated and by giving key stakeholders real opportunity to voice concerns, significant “buy in” has been achieved.

What
Provided support to the Human Resources function to undertake a strategic review of their existing coaching panel.

Approach
Put in place the framework to undertake a fundamental review of current coaching practice, individual coach performance and the value to the business of coaching.

Result
This led to significant changes in the structure and process of coaching within this organisation. These changes resulted in much greater effectiveness (better quality coaching), significant cost reduction and an evaluation process which required the use of coaching to demonstrate clear business benefits.
